I’ll refrain from writing about the frustration of not having much public progress, mainly because it’s been asked time and again here in the forum and elsewhere, and I know you guys are the most affected by this. But there’s one thing that I think hasn’t been asked before.
It’s been probably over a decade since the first patents have been filed. Patents having a limited lifespan and the project timeline being what it is leaving _relatively_ little time for commercialization before patent expiration… what’s your approach to this? Or maybe the meatier parts are still NYF?
Or maybe I’m blowing things out of proportion…
I’ve too got the impression that there is a lot going on behind the scenes that they don’t want to tell us because it is NYF and they don’t want to file a patent too soon, because it would start ticking away.
For example, I’ve got the impression that they are ditching the predicated fixed-width SIMD for something more alike scalable vector or even something more Cray-like.
But I’m afraid that perhaps they are iterating a bit too much before they have even got their first product out the door.I have been working on a hobby software project that is low-level and I wanted to support the Mill. It has been frustrating when I’ve asked about details, I’ve bee told that the Wiki is outdated or that I can’t get the info because the details are NYF. Eventually, I’ve had to drop Mill support, which is sad because it had been inspired by the Mill in the first place.
