The only prefetch facilities under program control are intended to deal with DRAM misses. We believe that manual control of prefetch at higher levels will just make things run slower. Note that manual prefetch is largely unnecessary on a Mill because of run-ahead prediction, which automatically prefetches down the predicted path. Conventional prediction techniques cannot do that.
